** Passing of Margaret Hannah
Newes from Kylie Raymont - It is with great sadness I advise that Margaret Hannah of the Sunshine Coast Queensland, formerly from Victoria passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, 28th September. Margaret had a great love of horses and was involved over the years with Arabians Horses, Stud Book Ponies, Thoroughbred Racehorses, Show Hacks and Riding Ponies. Margaret’s past riding pony stallions include the renowned “Treharne Talisman” and “Legacy of Churinga”. She had an incredible knowledge of horses and was always keen to share her knowledge and catch up for a chat. Her legacy will live on proudly in the riding ponies she has bred that carry the “Yarrayong” prefix.
** Stud News - Daisy Patch Stud NSW
All at Daisy Patch are very pleased to be able to announce the long awaited arrival of a beautiful colt foal out of Regal Rebelina – our black thoroughbred mare. She is the mother of Othello, Ophelia and Choir Boy and has done it again, a lovely fellow by R. Toy Town . “Woody” is very much like Choir Boy was as a baby in the looks department and already we note, he sure can move, just like dad. To say we are pleased is an understatement, we also have a lively filly also by Toy out of our Welsh B mare, this one also has dad’s movement and already thinks she is a Very Important Woman, we have named her “Oprah” for this reason. Most importantly we would like to thank Ben Williams and Fiona for all their support and assistance and of course Toy himself.
** Stud News - Cinbel-A Stud
Peter and Sue Cole of Cinbel-A Stud are proud to announce there newest arrival, a Palomoni Colt born on Friday 2nd October.

** Stud News - Leeara Park Wa
Leeara Park, WA would like to congratulate their 2009 show team on their recent successes at the Perth Royal Show. All ponies/hacks prepared, absolutely outshone our expectations to come home with some fantastic wins. Our newcomer large hack Uragano (“LP Superstar”) was awarded Champion Led Thoroughbred Gelding ahead of some very well performed show hacks. To be five months off the track, this young horse took everything in his stride and handled the royal atmosphere exceptionally – we couldn’t be happier with him and would like to thank Maggie Lees of Horse Select for sourcing us yet another beautiful animal. It was a thrill to win this for the second year running, 2008 winner being our large hack “Perfect by Nature”.
Next to show was our well performed large pony “Leeara Park First Edition” (Rathowen XL) ridden very professionally by Jessica Marsh to be sashed winner of 13-13.2hh and take out the Reserve Champion Large Pony award. He is Rathowen XL’s first progeny to qualify for the Grand Nationals - an outstanding young pony at the beginning of a very successful show career. We were very proud to have been joined for the Royal by Maggie Lees (Sefton Stud/ Horse Select), and Debbie and Maddison Demmler from Victoria. Maddie competed in her Intermediate rider class and did a great job to be awarded 2nd place on our small hack “Striking”. Later in the show he was the winner of the Novice hack 15-15.2hh and carried Britt to 2nd place in a Senior rider event. “Leeara Park Royal Petite” did us proud again by winning the RP Filly 3yr class and “Leeara Park Royal Destiny” placed fourth in a very strong field of yearling fillies.
It was great to see our beautiful stallion back out in the show ring. “Royal and Regal of Sefton” was deservingly awarded the Champion Part welsh Stallion or Colt title, beating some very successful junior colts and had many admirers. Rolle is standing at public stud for the 2009 / 10 Breeding Season. All in all a very tiring, yet highly successful week coming home with six wins from seven entries – and we look forward to it all again next year. Cheers Britt and Caris Reside

** Stud News - Manorvale Stables
News from Manorvale Stables; It has been an exciting week for Manorvale with Manorvale Diamond Diva taking out reserve champion ridden pony at Melbourne Royal on the same day as the first foal sired by Manorvale Royal Show entered the world. Our Melbourne Royal campaign didn't get off to the smoothest start when "Dixi" was measured up into the 13.2-14hh class, necessitating a last minute rider change. Lucky for us Bree Petrie was at the show with her riding gear! Dixi handled the horrible weather at Melbourne like a pro, turning in some beautiful work for Bree to win the open and then stand reserve champion in a line-up that was a who's who of Australia's most decorated show ponies. Thanks must go to Bree for a job well done, as well Gabby Thompson and Debbielee White for helping to work Dixi in on that freezing morning. About the same time Dixi was doing laps of the warm-up track at Melbourne, our broodie Helden Park Fantasia (by Courtland Boy Blue) delivered a lovely bay colt. This little man is the very image of his sire, Manorvale Royal Show, who as we expected is really putting a stamp on his foals.
The other exciting news for Manorvale is the imminent arrival of the highly decorated Riding Pony stallion Royalwood Boy Soprano.
Conditional upon sufficient bookings, Boy Soprano will stand at Manorvale for part of the 2009 stud season, on behalf of the Royalwood Stud. He is scheduled to arrive in Jerilderie in late November, giving breeders in Victoria and southern NSW a fantastic opportunity to access one of the leading sires in Australia. There will be a limit to the number of mares Boy Soprano can accept during his stay, so mare owners are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. Visit www.manorvalestables.com for details.

** ESH News
We are excited to finally be attending our first show for the Spring Season this weekend in Sydney. It's been a very long few months for us with the recent health scares for Emma's parents and relocating to the newly constructed property, which has been taking up much of the family's time recently. The Farm is looking wonderful with many rolls of turf now laid. LJS Evening Song has received some excellent enquries for her possible purchase and we are excited about continuing to show her at this time. MP Fairy Dust will also be attending her first shows for the year, later in spring and is also looking sensational. Young Ellie Rudder is also coming along as a skilled little rider and although tiny, Ellie and Fairy are best of friends.
** Stud News - Robbanie Stud NSW
Di Godfrey and Melanie Skinner from Robbanie Riding Pony Stud are pleased to announce the safe arrival of a full sister to Mr Squiggle. She is really sweet and loves people. Her sire is Royalwood Boy Soprano and dam is King Lodge Velvet Ribbons. She will be the same colour as her brother with a lovely stripe and stocking like her mum. Hopefully she will follow in her brothers footsteps and is a champion of the future.
** Stud News - Leeara Riding Pony Stud NSW
Brittany and Caris Reside, Leeara Park Riding Ponies WA, would like to congratulate Royal and Regal of Sefton on his triumphant return to the Show ring. Rolle is an extremely successful riding pony stallion shown extensively to win many major awards including multiple Supreme of Supreme titles and Supreme Champion at the Perth Royal show in 2007. In August 2008, Rolle suffered a severe case of Colic and had to undertake a very challenging and rare surgery procedure to unblock a difficult compaction in his small colon. After a long unsteady fight and lengthy rehabilitation, Rolle pulled through stronger than ever. On the 23rd of August 2009, exactly one year to the day that Rolle was discharged from hospital, he competed at the Baldivis breed show and certainly did not disappoint. What a star he is, Rolle was awarded Supreme champion Riding Pony, Supreme champion Part Welsh and a unanimous Supreme of Supreme Pony of the show. How proud are we of our boy, he certainly hasnt lost his show ring sparkle! This pony is really one in a million, we are so grateful to still have him with us today.
As a sire, he has produced back-to-back RP foal of the year winners (LP Royal Petite and LP Birthday Girl) and we are extremely excited about his first progeny Leeara Park Royal Petite coming out as a newcomer saddle pony in 2010. We also look forward to introducing to the show ring some of our stunning new babies including LP Royal Destiny and the return of LP Regal Reflection. We would like to congratulate and wish every success to the lovely new owners of LP Birthday Girl Angie and Amy Rowan and LP Regal Image Dan and Lauren Buckland. We await some exciting new crosses this season including Great Occasion of Sefton (dam of Aspirations of Sefton), Weston Park Magician mare, Ninfield Minks Supreme mare and a St Jude mare just to name a few.. Rolle stands at public stud, please view our website for more info and updates of the stud www.leearaparkridingponies.com.au. Leeara Park First Edition (Rathowen XL) has had an extremely fantastic newcomer year this season. Being XLs first progeny out under saddle, Leo has definitely proved his dad proud. He was awarded Arabian Derivative Pony of the year, Runner up EFA and SHC large pony of the Year, he has gone on to win classes at every GN Qualifier this year as well as Supreme Champion ridden pony at Championship Days. We look forward to EFA HOTY this weekend, Perth Royal Show end of September, SHC HOTY in October before sadly putting this outstanding pony up for sale. Cheers

Katie Kelly has just returned from another 2 months riding in Ireland and the UK. On Katie's last day in UK she rode her old pony Murrum Park Phantom at The London Riding Horse Show held in the gorgeous Hyde Park... after not having ridden Phantom at a comp for 6 years it was amazing for her to ride him once again at a comp and to make it even better they won!! Kate Marfleet also competed on the day (side saddle) riding the lovely Captain Hastings to win also. Katie would like to say a huge thankyou to her good friends Kate and Amanda Marfleet for once again letting her join them on a show run through the UK. Phantom's half brother "SP Phantastic" has just started his education and Katie is honoured to own this amazing moving gelding with International Judge Jillian Cobcroft. But the rest is now over and breeding season is upon us once again. Encore will do a small ammount of AI(fresh) and be covering all our own mares here at the stud. Other very exciting news is that out Jack Russell,Maddison, had 5 gorgeous puppies. 3 male and 2 female. We could not have asked for more adorable or better marked pups. It is going to be a very sad day to see these puppies go but we have decided to keep a little girl for ourselves. There is also a couple of pups left awaiting top homes. Also I must thank all the people who inquired about our colt MP Kings Ransom. We have decided that he is just so special and at the moment we want to show him and keep him as a back up for Encore. We look forward to having him out and about this show season. Also we have sold MP So Fair to a wonderful home in WA. I hope they have many successful years showing this exceptional moving filly.
On a different front our website has loads of photos and news and will be updated with many changes soon. It will getting a re vamp and we have lots to ad to it. ** Show Team news
News from Gina Montgomery :- The Galloway First Lady was at her very first show & it seems she is going to follow in the very large footsteps left by her mum, Lost Lady. We are very proud of her & yes she is very recognizable as Blondie’s daughter & a terrific cross with Pendley Gold Cup. Big things to come from her we are sure. (see photo attached)
The stallion Smash Hit is a stunning example of the modern day warmblood type. He was imported as a foal from Germany by Amanda & David Shoobridge of Revelwood Stud & they have asked me to campaign him at some shows as he is a fantastic opportunity for mare owners looking to breed hacks, hunters, Warmblood Arabians etc. He has the most divine face & a really fantastic temperament. I will be sending my hunter mare Perfect Harmony to him this season & also Angela Latter’s beautiful hunter mare Skyview Brydie is booked to Smash. Based on the progeny he already has on the ground I am also going to try for a stunning small hack with Lost Lady. With thoroughbreds getting harder to come by these days the Warmblood temperament is so trainable & I think with as stunning a type as Smash it makes sense that we utilize this gene pool for our future show horse success. See ESH Stallion Feature for more on Smash Hit.

Our horses are well and we are looking forward to finally being able to get back into showing for the first time since March this year. Both Evie and Fairy Dust are looking terrific. We have offered Evie for sale, as it's time for a change and Emma has been looking for a larger horse to ride now. We have had some lovely people enquiry for her so far. ** Greener Pastures - Weale Dale Tikki
From Jane Greentree (nee Newcombe): It is with great sadness that I report the loss of my beloved Tikki. Older showies will remember us from the 80s and 90s arond NSW shows where we enjoyed success that was continued by her only foal Newdale Jack Daniels into the new millenium. She spent years at Marena Stud with Lindy and Maureen Walker, where she assisted in teaching some of our countries best young riders in their early days. Despite her age she was happy, healthy and shiny, with her same quirky personality until she suffered a major stroke on the morning of June 17th and I felt there was no option for my best friend of 25 years but to do the kindest deed. Many thanks to Rob Casker (vet) for his professionalism at such a traumatic time and to the Guner family of Langenhoe Park where Tikki was agisted and now finally rests, for their compassion. Newdale Jack Daniels sired two foals before he was gelded, Newdale Little Jack Fost, a successful dressage pony like his father, and Langenhoe Park Malibu who will begin his show career soon. I will eagerly watch as her legacy continues. And to my dear best friend of 25 great years, I miss you already you cheeky old girl. Rest in peace Tikki.

** Greener Pastures - Corvan Park Johnny Walker
Sad news from Nerida Corbett - Sire: Owendale Rhythm, Dam: Corvan Park Shiralee Born 4th August 2008 - died 3rd July 2009. It is with a heavy heart and lots of tears that I email you with the passing of our wonderful yearling Welsh B Colt. My daughter Melissa put him out for a run on Friday 3rd July in his small paddock, he had not been out 10minutes when melissa said that she thought that he had his leg caught in his legstrap so she ran over to him all the time he was whinnying at her (as if to say help me) and as she neared he lunged towards her then fell to the ground. I got over to him in a matter of minutes and it took no longer than 5 minutes for him to pass away, we suspect a heart attack. In the short time of his life he bought us much joy. At feed time I would watch as he sifted through his feed and picked out the pellets and I would hear him crunching on them as I went about feeding the tribe, of a morning he would stand at his fence and whinny for his feed as soon as he spotted you. When he was put out for a run he would play "catch me if you can" before finally standing still to be caught and put away for the night. He was shown 3 times for Champion Led Welsh Exhitit at Dubbo show out of strong competition. Champion Led ASP Foal & Champion Led Welsh B Foal, then went on to be Supreme Pony Foal of the Show at Morongla Foal & Youngstock Show. Everyone that saw him fell in love with him. It isnt everyday that breed one that touches the heart as he did. Rest in Peace Johnny Walker. Nicole Hewitt Photo.

** Tribute to Rathowen XL
From the The Reside Family - Today being the 1st July 2009 marks the one year anniversary of Felix’s tragic death. A Stallion who was admired by many for his looks, movement and most of all his fantastic temperament. Over the past year, Felix’s progeny have been doing him proud with his first progeny under saddle “Leeara Park First Edition” winning the Arabian Derivative Pony of the Year, being Felix’s first progeny HOTY winner. This pony has also gone on to be awarded Runner Up Newcomer Large Pony at both the EFA & SHC Newcomers 2009. Since then there has been the very successful, yearling colt “Xemplify of Sefton” winning Champion Led Youngstock of the Year at both the recent EFA & SHC Newcomers Championships in QLD.
The ponies mentioned above are only some of the Felix’s that are out there competing successfully. His children possess the same movement, looks and quirky, loving nature and are the superstars of the future. Felix is missed by many people throughout Australia. But he touched the hearts of owners, Maggies Lees and Bill Pryse more than we all could ever imagine. With his love of liquorice and scratches, who wouldn’t be under this magnificent stallions spell! Felix will always have that extra special place in their hearts and at Sefton Riding Ponies, where the barn is consistently full of the Felix babies we all cherish so much. On top of the hill at the Euroa property, Felix overlooks his mares, foals and most importantly his family whom miss him dearly, knowing that he will always be the king of Sefton. Our thoughts are with Maggie & Bill today, gone but will never be forgotten. RIP Felix

Thorne Park would like to report that our stunning filly Thorne Parks Little Darling AI (Rotherwood Peter Pan UK x Glyndebourne Morticia) made her show ring debut on the weekend at the Darling Range Breed Spectacular. We were thrilled when she was awarded Champion Riding Pony Mare or filly and then Supreme Champion Riding Pony. She is a rising two year and was unshown in 2008 as I had my own new baby, so it was such a thrill for her the hit the show ring in such style. This filly has been retained by the stud as a future broodmare. On a more regrettable note, Thorne Parks Song & Dance has come back on the market due to his initial purchasers financial situation. An ad will shortly appear on Emma’s, but details of him can be found on our website which is updated regularly, so check for new info on what is happening at the stud. www.thorneparkstud.com

** Stud News - Merivale Park VIC
Judy Ivory writes:- The Victorian Riding Pony Foal Show was to be our last foal show for the season. But it was the first outing for MP Kings Ramsom, our magnificent colt out of Fairley Camilla IMP by Encore. Kings Ransom was prepared beautifully by Nathan Berrill and we cannot thank him enough. He won his class and was awarded Champion Colt in ring one much to our delight. Reserve colt in ring one was also by Encore Birchwood Silver Lining, owned by Birchwood Stud. And after Naaman Romeo,Naaman Stud, being sashed Champion colt at last weeks Gala Event Foal Show show we could not be more thrilled with the 2008 foals Encore put on the ground. Also MP Spring Collection owned by Jo Deane, had another successful show, she has had a broad sash at every foal show shes attended. Jo has done a lovely job of preparing this filly and she heads to the paddock for a well earned break. Also MP Royal Invitation has been sold to Georgia Cooke of NSW. He has arrived and settled in beautifully. We wish Georgia all the best of luck with this stunning colt. I am sure he will make a huge impression in NSW as his brother MP Royal Windsor has done in Victoria. We are now looking forward to some down time before foaling season is once again upon us.
